We welcome new items and many clean, gently used supplies. To help ensure donations are safe and ready to use, please keep the following in mind:

  • Review the current wishlist, as our needs may change.
  • Follow any brand, type or size requirements included in the list.
  • Used items should be clean, in good condition and ready to use.
  • All donated food and treats must be unopened.

For the health and safety of animals in our care, we cannot accept opened pet food, opened treats or prescription medications.

If you would like to donate something that is not currently listed or have a large quantity of items, please email info@guelphhumane.ca before making your donation.

Tax Receipts for Donated Items

Tax receipts may be issued upon request for eligible new items with a total value of more than $20.

If you are dropping off your donation and would like a tax receipt, please request one at the time of your donation and provide the following to our Client Services representative:

  • A copy of the purchase receipt showing the value of the donated items
  • Your full name and mailing address
  • Your email address or telephone number

Your documentation will be reviewed after the donation is received. If the donation is eligible, the tax receipt will be mailed to the address you provide.

Tax receipts are available only for eligible new items whose value can be verified. Under GHS policy, used items are not eligible for a tax receipt.

For large donations, items being shipped directly to GHS or questions about missing purchase documentation, please email give@guelphhumane.ca. Our team will explain what information is required and whether a tax receipt can be issued.

Prefer to Make a Monetary Donation?

Wishlist items provide valuable day-to-day support. If you would like GHS to direct your gift wherever it is needed most, a monetary donation gives our team the greatest flexibility to respond to changing and urgent needs.

Every gift helps provide care, comfort and support for animals in our community.
